serafaeryThese are the pumpkins Myrrh and I carved the day after Halloween. There weren't any evil spirits to chase off. We did cute things. Myrrh did the white pumpkins: turtle and birds. I did the big orange pumpkin, a moth, a la the Someday Lounge's "Viva L'arte" logo:

I'm really glad he was up for doing this with me, as I'd purchased the pumpkins and felt bad about not carving them. They went bad almost immediately, but were pretty for a little while.
Why is temporary art so very appealing to me?
I guess because everything is temporary. Everything changes. Even the Mona Lisa will be lost to time one day. I enjoy the tactile reality of that, in gourds, face paint, Burning Man pieces, performance art, candles, doodles, smoke ribbons.... active decay and transformation.
