Moonbeam:

+4 )

Made from an original Morning Glory flutter pony I had from childhood - wings long broken and missing.

I had a unicorn named Sunbeam that I called Moonbeam now and then on accident. Now I have a pony worthy of the name.

Fortunte happenstances:

1. This is the only hair I could find to replace the original neon yellow/green hair she had. $1 at a thrift store. ! It just happened to have purple tinsel in it and be exactly the right amount to work with for re-rooting the mane and tail, allowing for enough discarded mistakes.
2. Roommates, combined, offered model paint, white spray paint, brushes, and glue I needed.
3. Named Moonbeam before knowing she would be completed on the night of the first full moon of December.

Still not done, but it's only minor stitching and the harness/straps left to do. Totally manageable in a day.

I may get up early and try to finish so I can bring them to werk for my coworker, who will be wearing them Friday.

But I may just bring them to her Friday morning. We shall see.

Me at the 2008 Portland Zombie Walk. Discovered recently via (the dreaded) Facebook.

Was such a lovely time. Can't wait to be a dead fairy again. I think this year I may follow the group around with spray cleaner and rags/paper towels and be the blood-cleanup-zombie-fairy thing.

Warren Ellis posted Star St. Germain's drawing of herself and Myrrh on his blog this morning (which is mirrored here on livejournal: via [livejournal.com profile] warren_ellis).

So pretty! Myrrh plays with Star when he travels to San Francisco, and when Star isn't playing cello with Myrrh, she illustrates beautiful things, like this.

Unexpectedly met the creator of a little piece of art I bought at Backspace a couple years ago at New Seasons on Sunday. Eatcho.

Click for detail. I love my bloody horned baby deer thing with the backwards dollar sign on a piece of scrap wood.

Love.

15 minute TED YouTube of Miru Kim, talking about her ongoing art project, displaying city ruins artistically. (Myrrh would especially love this, I think.)

Really gorgeous, and brave.

Cute rats!

Beautiful 20 minute video of Elizabeth Gilbert (author of Eat, Pray, Love) speaking at TED on the concept of creative "genius".

Bonus points for the phrase "fairies who follow people around rubbing fairy juice on their projects".

Wow, [livejournal.com profile] pixie_journal just posted the most beautiful entry I think I've ever read on livejournal. Her experience of Burning Man this year. And of art, and muse, and love, and learning.

"29 August. The event is halfway over and I realize I don't need to be here. I live the essence of this event 365 days a year."

A shadow of this came over me when I was there last year. But I couldn't quite accept it.

...

Off to cuddle with the lover.
