Nervous about the fact that I've waited so long to send a note to my salon about my ruined hair. I hesitated for a while because I'm afraid I'll put my stylist's job in jeopardy, or in general just make her feel really awful and angry. I don't think she's a bad person and I am not one to inflict pain if I don't have to. But, I feel totally ripped off, and she didn't give any indication that she would ever be reasonable about this issue, with me. If I took her aside (I thought about this) at the salon after my "conditioning treatment" and said, "Look. Look at this breakage. You remember that you didn't cut this, right? This was all one length. This was from your bleaching. Do you really think I should pay for the conditioning?" I don't think she would have looked - I think she would have turned her head and walked away, or just shook her head at me and said something along the lines of "that happens when you want purple hair", or something else dismissive. She was very dismissive.

I should have tried, though. Too scared. I was all alone and she was surrounded by co-workers. I'm not good at that stuff.

I just need to send it so I can stop letting this eat away at me.

Nr. 3 is a lovely portrait, though. Pensive/lovely.

I think you're doing the right thing for you, whatever else comes of it. You are valuing your self & your choices enough to stand up for her.

I understand you don't want her to lose her job, but if she did this to your hair she's probably screwed up other people's hair and ripped them off too. I'd say do it. try not to worry about her too much... the more aware they are about your dissatisfaction the better off in the long run. and who knows, maybe you will get some money back? when I go to a restaurant and complain that something was burned they don't usually make me pay for it...

hi from thailand!

I know you don't want to hurt anyone, I am compulsive about that myself...but the honest answer is: if she did that bad of a job, and if she was dismissive maybe she -needs- consequences, perhaps even as harsh as a job loss. Otherwise she will just do the same thing over and over and never learn it is wrong. Consequences are what teach us, and sometimes they are hard lessons. But someone who is working for you (and she is, by contract work) should never be dismissive of your needs or wants. That is just one a way to lose customers and two a way to hurt people. You are hurt by this, emotionally...and I think it is completely appropriate and considerate to write a note. That way if they chose to dismiss it it is their choice, but you have also gotten your opinions and needs heard.
end of rant.

You've always enjoyed the darker, more somber pictures. I like that. I ususally feel uncomfortable about posting them. I should be less shy about it. :)

Do be less shy... You look lovely (as always), and you have a pensive, haunted beauty that I've always liked.

And I do miss hearing from you.

Hi Thailand girl! We miss you terribly! I LOVE your Thailand entries, so fun fun to read! I don't think I will ever get to go but I love hearing about your experiences. I do hope the stylist learns something, yes, and hopefully not too harshly. Thanks so much for your thoughts. Have lots of fun! <3<3
