Water in the Desert
Jul. 29th, 2007 12:31 amWow, this looks incredible: Water in the Desert Festival. Tomorrow, 2-9pm. Why don't I ever hear about these things sooner?
There are so many events I could participate in/volunteer for if I only knew about them. Slowly, I will build a network.
There is enough face-painting work in this town to keep me busy full time.
This festival is free and participatory, and ecology/art centered.
All I've ever really wanted is to use my love of fantasy and costume/crafting/painting to not only bring joy, but to also raise environmental consciousness. I plan to, as my craft develops, use only reused/recycled/earth-friendly materials. Or as close to "only" those things as I can get.
There is so much waste everywhere. It takes work to turn it into treasure. But I enjoy the effort to undo the harm most of our thoughtless, consumer-based culture does to this precious, tiny, temporary little dustball.
