messy faeries.
May. 3rd, 2021 02:37 amUgh the square online store that's now run through weebly totally screwed up my store somehow and most of my items got removed. after circling through bad links to fix it (that just sent me in a loop and not to anywhere where I could change the settings - they were weirdly greyed out?) I finally managed to make the links "visible" again but then the prices were all literally crossed out, with the old prices showing in grey with a line through them, and re-set to zero? When I go to edit the item the price still shows as the correct price and no amount of fiddling will fix it. But a handful of items totally randomly still have the correct price showing? It's like, the items that start with the letters B and C? It's totally random and when I look at those items individually, their settings look no different on my end than the ones with the greyed out/zeroed out prices, so I know this is a break on their end and not on mine. They say they are having "higher than normal" service requests so I'm sure I won't hear from them for a week. This likely happened on Friday - I suspect it happened when they sent the beta preview for the new integration with appointments and that borked it somehow, even though I DECLINED the beta test, i hit the "not now" link damnit, because it looked like a mess. omg. so I've been off grid for 2 days and fortunately a customer sent me an email so here I am monday mornning at 3am fiddling with the stupid thing trying to fix it and I'm SO TIRED, we had an intense, difficult, epic day of multi-pitch climbing at Smith Rock state park in central oregon and I feel completely destroyed. stupid square. I know this has lost me several hundred dollars in sales because on Friday evening I posted new youtube content and that always bumped my sales immensely but I've had NOTHING, it sucks so bad. I was able to put a note on my website that it's broken and I'm trying to fix it but I will keep losing sales until they do, it's such a helpless feeling.
I MUST find a new servicer and build a new online website. This has happened too many times, they charge me $100 a year in order to break my stuff and halt all my sales and not help me with any of my very reasonable issues like broken links and such that happen for no reason randomly. I'm DONE with square/weebly omg.
I will keep their online booking thing but I need a new online store, pronto. I don't care if it costs me $500 to build, I am sure I lost that much over the weekend if not more.
sigh.
so frustrating. I know they'll do nothing to make it right. If they gave me a dedicated web designer to entirely redesign and customize my site for free, then I would stay with them. that's the only way this could be made right. But I know they won't offer that. UGH so annoying.
my settings were getting changed back and forth while I was working on them, like the handful and B and C items having their prices show back up, so I think they're trying to work on it on their end, maybe? I have no idea what's going on. But right now all you can buy online is Black and Candy Apple Red sparkles lol. what a cluster.
I'm just so grateful that this is not my only source of income and my rent doesn't depend on it. can you imagine how much stress it would be if it were? I used to make thousands of dollars in sales over a good weekend, now during covid it's only hundreds, on extra good weekends, so, I can be thankful for that, I suppose. that it's not a greater loss. can you imagine if this was like, a really high end business doing tens of thousands of dollars of sales a day? what a mess. I hope square/weebly gets their asses handed to them for screwing up people's businesses.
...
need to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. but I also wanted to say that I forgot that I can't post personal vlogs on public facing places like facebook or youtube. I forgot. I over-share every time and someone always ends up upset. I will just do personal vlogs and post them here and that's it. no more facebook/work related vlogs. that will just have to be professional stuff only. turns out people don't like the messy side of faeries, lol.
I left my little personal vlog link on youtube but changed it to "unlisted" so you can only view it if you already have the link, and I took it off of facebook. I don't want to make any of my customers feel bad because of what i'm going through personally that has nothing to do with them.
