unseasonal
Apr. 11th, 2022 03:47 pmaccidentally waited until 2:30pm to eat, today.
made seared maitake mushrooms with sauteed green garlic, kale, spring radish, and a duck egg, seasoned with freshly grated turmeric and ginger, salt and pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil.
also cooked a beautiful root vegetable soup that is the most delicious thing. sweet and savory: purple onion, parsnip, garnet yam, carrot, golden beet, and a couple tablespoons of dried rosemary, a little salt and pepper and just a small a handful of spring scallions and cilantro leftover from last night's dinner I made for josh.
the soup is so, so comforting and lovely.
got a pumpkin spice latte at the cafe, in my Zero mug, while wearing halloween socks. I guess this april snowfall all over the budding flowers has me feeling a bit out of season, apparently spring + winter = fall in this confused brain?
this is the first recorded accumulation of snow in April in Portland, since record keeping began.
I thought we might see a flurry or two at some point, but no one expected anything to stick. this is bizarre.
