The incredible psychological reset of yesterday's trip to the coast for mushrooming, hiking up Saddle Mountain for the first time since early spring before I got hurt, and enjoying a chilly sunset at the beach is something I was not expecting, it is so wonderful. Everything looks and feels so much more beautiful and hopeful and gentle, I have more energy and feel so much more alive and vibrant and motivated. The world came back into color and lit up all around me. I forgot how necessary this is to my well-being. It's essential.

It was a slower hike than usual, about 20 minutes longer to get to the top, as I am out of shape from no longer hiking or running since the foot injury, but it still felt incredible and I did okay.

The car just needed a new battery - my roadside assistance helper showed up in the morning with a friendly smile, we popped the hood, and he was immediately like, Oh, it's the battery. It was corroded and leaking battery acid. We were able to jump it, and he had the kindness to tell me not to take it to a mechanic, that Autozone or similar places will replace my battery for free with purchase. So grateful for the hint! I told this to Josh and he suggested Battery Exchange, which he's never used but has seen, and they quoted me even less than Autozone, and were able to change out my battery super quickly and efficiently on the spot, and they took the old battery to recycle. Less than $200 and I'm back to fully functional, hooray! I'm pretty sure that was the original battery on the car, since it said Honda and I have never replaced the battery, and bought the car used seven years ago. The car is a 2013 Honda Fit - that's pretty impressive! Reiterating how grateful I am this didn't happen while I was out in the mountains. I will try to be better about adulting and keep track of the age of this battery and get it tested regularly, once I'm past the 3-4 year mark. (It should last twice that.)

I was able to stand in the morning sunshine while they worked, yesterday, someone sweetly planted a bunch of tansies and dahlias next to the shop so I could enjoy the gorgeous flowers even in a somewhat unpleasant autoshop environment, I was delighted and soaked in the warm early morning rays.

Tyler had offered to lend me his car in the meantime, so kind of him. He asked for pumpkin pie in exchange, I will give him some even though I did not take him up on the car offer, once I get around to baking. I do have buttercup pumpkins on deck for this purpose.

I am so grateful for how privileged I am to have such friendships and support.

I canceled a sparkling appt this afternoon of someone who called me a nasty name over email last year - she hasn't made an appt since and I sort of made up an excuse (a friend's birthday! It's partly true), but I am just afraid of her really. I will let her reschedule. The reason is that I need more rest this afternoon after all the hiking and activity yesterday, because I am attending a friend's show tonight AND celebrating a friend's birthday AND going to Shadowplay tonight, and I need some time and rest before all that. I am going to get balloons/spooky chocolate for the birthday boy, I want to pick up some Halloween greeting cards at some point also, which could happen today if it works out.

Time to wash the pumpkin enzyme off my face and get ready for werk. I am a lucky faery.
