little envelopes of love.
Dec. 19th, 2024 06:43 pmerf cramps, started bleeding this morning, I am ten days early! last cycle was ten days late so i guess it's trying to even itself out lol. owwwwwwwwwwwww. not convenient for Shadowplay tonight so I'm going to try to nap and find a comfier than usual outfit to hide my bloated belly in, blergh. I was so slenderly just yesterday, alas! alack! lol.
The pot roast was a success, Josh was super grateful and loved it, we have lots leftover for tomorrow, I had some for lunch, too. I will have to ask after those pieces again from that rancher, that was wonderful. I had never cooked that sort of meat before (sorry for the squeamish but it was actually yak neck pieces) so I was very nervous, but I just slow cooked it overnight and it was falling off the bone and tender and delicious by morning. I added red potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and sweet onion to the pot and rested the meat on leek leaves. Our hyperactive aging bodies need the protein and yak are vastly more environmentally friendly compared to beef, their hooves aerate the soil instead of stamping it down, so they are beneficial to have on pastured land, and they require a quarter of the water needed for cattle.
I also baked a pumpkin pie with fresh cranberries and grated fresh ginger, the pumpkins were so sweet I needed less than a quarter cup of honey for a very deep large pie, and I made vegan gingerbread cookies this morning with close to half the sugar called for and also included fresh grated ginger, and used organic ingredients and whole wheat flour. Not quite as fluffy and delicious as the first batch, which had a little more brown sugar and used grass fed butter, but still wonderful.
I might do cranberry chocolate chip cookies for Cynthia this weekend.
This weekend is very busy, but we'll see how much I can accomplish.
Need a nap while my hair is percolating in its henna lol.
I got ten more xmas cards out today. I'm past the guaranteed due date for xmas delivery, but many of them are local so there's still a chance they'll arrive just in time. Better late than never? It was SO FUN filling out all the cards today, not at all like the struggle of two days ago. Not sure what the difference was but that sure was fun. I was on a roll and it felt really good doling out love to everyone in this little simple way. I sent an awkward I-love-you-guys card to Josh's parents, silly of me, but I tried. I'll see them for Hannukah soon thankfully. We might also see them on xmas day, we'll see. Josh and I talked out that issue and I think we have a little bit better understanding. Hopefully.
I don't remember if I wrote about it but I called my step-sister-in-law who is fairly easy to talk with, and I told her that I would like to come to xmas eve after all, and she was really nice about it. I had to excuse Josh and she asked why and I had to just kind of say being Jewish makes xmas kind of not his thing. Hopefully that's good enough. Maybe he'll come join another time. But, he's really disinterested in exposing himself to time with my brother, and he worries about me being exposed to that, and that's all stuff I don't want to get into with the rest of the family. I don't want to triangulate and/or cause a bunch of drama. Our issues are between us, no need to involve anyone else.
Ohsosleepy. i hope I can push through the discomfort and make it to shadowplay tonight, I need some dancing and darkness. the big horns need to come out.
three fb peeps sent me their addresses for xmas cards and so off they went, that felt really funny. I hope they like them :) I hope nobody feels beholden to send anything back, especially with them going out so late. I just wanted to drop some little envelopes of love out into the world.
work was nice. I totally messed up my start time and Laura was waiting for me when I got there, but she's friendly, we were friends before I started sparkling her, she's a fellow aerialist, so it was okay that I was dishelveled with no makeup, and she gave me a sweet little dragon necklace that she told me the name of that was some greek figure with the first syllable sounding like "clyde" and then like seven more syllables after that - what greek figure was this? I repeated it but now can't remember - i should have asked about the namesake's characteristics. I'm in love with this dragon whose name I can't pronounce, anyway. My sparkly people are wonderful. It's fun offering them freshly baked cookies and leftover holiday cans of fancy fizzy water.
