serafaeryI panicked and canceled all of my work this week. getting my booster tonight. current studies show that the J&J shot I received offers zero antibody response to omicron. people are being so casual and nobody seems to be aware of the omicron symptoms. They are different.
Runny nose, headache, fatigue, sneezing and sore throat were the most common symptoms among London residents, with some people also reporting loss of appetite and brain fog, data shows. Typically, COVID-19’s “classic three symptoms” include fever, cough or loss of smell or taste, but only 50% of people in the early analysis infected with delta or omicron experienced them.
Dr. Angelique Coetzee, chair of the South African Medical Association, told BBC her omicron patients had scratchy not sore throats, and didn’t have a cough or loss of smell or taste.

Everyone's being so relaxed and I'm walking around totally unprotected and it sucks. I refuse to miss xmas again. At least my older relatives are boosted and my step-family is in general careful. But this hits home:
“All of us have a date with omicron,” said Dr. Amesh Adalja, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. “If you’re going to interact with society, if you’re going to have any type of life, omicron will be something you encounter, and the best way you can encounter this is to be fully vaccinated.” Time article

Date: 2021-12-21 08:48 pm (UTC)My husband and I have had three shots as of Dec 1 (both Moderna/Pfizer crossovers now, since we each elected to have the third shot be the opposite of what we had before), but we're still going back to being wary about how often and where we go out. Like I will dine indoors in a restaurant, but only if the place is pretty much empty. (and of course masks everywhere, yadda yadda)
