Willow bit me three times during her injection tonight. Didn't break the skin. She could hurt me if she really wanted to.

I had her pinned and was sighing and collecting myself and Preston said, "I'm sorry. I know it stresses you out. You just gotta remember that it's just her animal reactions to things."

I said, "I know, but it's like the thing with the crazy guy today - I know it's not about me and I shouldn't get upset over it, but I have animal reactions to it, too."

...

We got through it and I dosed her heavily with catnip afterward in the hopes of establishing a reward system that might help curb this violent behavior she's developing toward injections. It's great that she feels better but it's harder to control a healthy cat, heh.

Calicos are notoriously fiesty too! (I was a vet tech for almost 10 years and can vouch that it's true.) Reward systems are your best hope! I'm so happy to hear how well she is doing. I read each post about her so anxiously!

Hehe, it doesn't surprise me at all to hear that about calicos. Her surgeon is afraid of her! I still laugh when I think about her last checkup when I took her out of the towel I had her bundled in and her surgeon backed away from the table. She stayed calm that day, thankfully. :)

Vet techs are rock stars! Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. You're wonderful. I'm still amazed at how well Willow's doing. I will try to post more pictures soon! *hugs*

Do you wrap her in a towel before?

Oh yes, always. Used to just sort of nest her in it, after she calmed down and got used to the process a couple years ago, but we've gone back to covering her head and wrapping her tightly now that she's all feisty. Not safe to have kitty head exposed! But she jerks and wriggles free and that's when she bites me.
