Eating to save the planet. It's pretty much what I do. It works well for me.

Of course, ideally, I would be vegan. Or at least vegetarian.

But I have felt in the last few years that my lifestyle makes it very difficult to find the time and resources to keep my body nutritionally satisfied on a vegetarian (let alone vegan) diet.

Part of this could be seen as laziness. But, for now, this weakness of mine is a reality and I don't feel I have the energy or resources to change it.

If I treat meat as a treat, instead of a staple, everything feels much better. I still get the bursts of easy-to-digest protein I need when I feel I need them. I don't feel deprived or grumpy about sacrificing too much in the face of such a greedy world.

Using fruits, veggies, beans, and grains as filler gives me lots more energy than eating a lot of simple carbs. I treat things like bagels, crackers, white bread, chips, pastries, soda, and beer as poisonous items that I can consume in small quantities (or sometimes large quantities - I ate an entire mini baguette yesterday in one sitting) as treats, but shouldn't consider to be food.
