Reflecting on how our childhoods can shape our sense of peace so profoundly. My favorite human seems most drawn to secluded, remote woods, away from anyone but perhaps one or two people he cares for deeply. This is how he was raised - on acreage with his brother, all that space and nature to himself, wildlife and brambles so familiar it was like breathing.

For me, my childhood memories of Oregon beaches brings me back there, over and over. Where I feel most content is in front of a little driftwood fire on the beach at sunset in summer, with snacks and blankets and sandy toes, listening to the roar of the mighty Pacific.
