If tree's birthed little winged trees, I could imagine those opening up like caccoons and little ctreatures flying out of them.

They sort of do, in a way, with propeller seeds or poplar fluff. :)

These little pod things are everywhere in Portland. I never knew how pretty they were until I stopped to take a picture. They look ugly and plain and sickly yellowish brown from a distance. Up close, it looks like a vintage Christmas tree ornament.
