Photo class progress.

Fell way behind in my photography class and projects while being sick the last week. Caught up a bit this morning. I got kicked out of the lighting studio (was supposed to have a reservation but a teacher needed it for a class), so I had to make due with a classroom that was letting in plenty of natural light through the shades. It's the best I could do, though, and our instructor did say last week, "There's nothing wrong with adapting." So hopefully it'll be okay. The kit lights seemed to do the trick just fine, even with the natural light coming through a bit.

I still have the "in nature" lighting shots to do, which will take me at least an hour, probably two. Going to try to take a long lunch today and work on it.

My Personal Project is going to be totally lame. I'm disappointed. I have pretty pictures of lattes from the Latte Art Competition a couple weeks ago, but that's all they are: pretty pictures of lattes. Snore.

I wanted to personalize my coffee pictures by getting photos of my favorite baristas and stuff, but it's just not going to happen. I don't have time.

I just can't figure out how to display my latte pictures in any kind of interesting way. Since I'm not making a book or prints, I'll be showing them on a DVD in class (to be played on the TV). I guess I could put some Mum behind it or something, but telling the story about the competition is sort of boring... I would just be babbling about how much I like the way milk foam interacts with freshly pulled espresso shots. Guh. *headdesk*

I did well on all the other projects and I'm sure I'll do well on the final after acing the midterm, so I guess it's okay that my Personal Project is lame. It's just kinda sad. I wanted to do better.

I love it when they put pretty things on coffee. A lot of people do the ferns thing (yours is the prettiest I've sen though!) and there's a guy at one of my favourite cafes here that does little hearts.

I like the hearts, too. I get them a lot. The ferns thing is nice, too. I loves them. Drew does exceptionally good ones.

I think I would LOVE New Zealand, and will definitely make a beeline directly for you if I'm ever able to visit.
