Thursday ramping up
Jul. 6th, 2023 09:56 amSo..... yesterday I decided that I would upcycle jellyfish puppets instead of cleaning the apartment.
It was a super fun project and they came out nicely and everyone at the event loved them.
My room is destroyed but that's what happens when I make art lol.
I decided not to buy anything from amazon and just scrape together what I could upcycle - I used old cat toys for wands and plastic bags instead of latex balloons, fabric I purchased but I thrifted or dug into old stashes of my mom's ribbons and crafty bits for the tendrils. old fairy lights I already had lying around.
They are too fluffy, way too many tendrils actually, and I poked a hole in one of the bags so it deflated, but otherwise came out nicely (I stuffed the fabric with a few air bags from random shipments that I held onto because I kinda hoard clutter as has been discussed, and that helped keep the deflated one at least a little bit poofy), they worked fine, can use some refining but not bad for my first time.
they're especially nice at night when the sticks disappear and the fairy lights illuminate the insides.
I want to re-make the deflated one and maybe make more! if I can figure out a way to upcycle more wands.
Ishtar asked us to swim them for her underwater sequence of her mermaid performance, so I had Fredrick puppet one and I did the other and asked Josh to take a little video of the scene - so fun!
need to get dressed and make a quick breakfast and run off to werk. I cooked Josh a beautiful salmon fillet from the native Americans at the farmers market, I will steal some, it looks heavenly.
I sparkle all day and then Shadowplay, yay! We get to dance in the dungeon FINALLY omg.
I have extremely painful menstrual cramps right now (not enough sleep) so I will be bleeding all day I'm sure, fun times! But that's okay, I can soothe with tea and some deep breathing. I don't take NSAIDs anymore. Gotta protect my brain and body.
It feels weird not drinking, still, but my body and brain sure appreciate it.
