Perseids, pirates, faeries.
Aug. 12th, 2007 05:38 pmThanks to
ghost_nymph for the reminders about the Perseid Meteor Shower tonight. Heading to see Pirates 3 (better late than never) tonight, and will try to find a place to stargaze afterwards.
Been a strange Sunday, not much accomplished, feeling a bit listless and guilty for not keeping busy or working hard on something. Anything. Guh.
I did update on Faerieworlds, finally. Pix over at the Diary.

Date: 2007-08-13 06:06 pm (UTC)I really appreciate these reminders from you. You are always so gentle, and you're consistently correct in reminding me that beating myself up over this stuff is totally useless and I don't deserve it. You're wonderful. Thank you. {{{huggles}}}

Date: 2007-08-13 09:58 pm (UTC)I definitely recommend checking out the gremlin thing. There's a book, called Taming Your Gremlin, which you can get either from the above site or Amazon, or some bookshops might stock it. It's lightweight, like a kids' book, not a big brick of a self-help tome. It worked for me because I think visually, and in narratives and symbols. I get the feeling you are similar to me in this respect, so it might be very powerful for you.
Gremlins can take any sort of form, but basically they are your inner critic, who bullies you into doing stuff and makes you feel worthless and miserable. Mine turned out to be an invisible midget, once I broke his invisibility spell he looked like a demon. (Did that sound crazy? It's not, honest) Andandand, the plot thickens: he also turned out to just be the hired thug of another very well-meaning gremlin I call Geekgirl, a teacher's pet who wants to get everything right. She's an eleven year old girl who looks like Hermione from the first Harry Potter movie. Always with her hand raised: I know, I know! i can fix it, I can get it right!
Sometimes the process can even be fun, if you can laugh at yourself a little, see the little games your head plays on you. It also hurts like hell, because you find yourself letting go of ideas you don't need, but were very attached to. It's SO worth it.
