My boss just walked into my office. He told me that my performance during this "probationary period" that was spelled out in my "written warning" has been "excellent" and that he reported my improved performance officially to HR. He said he felt almost like it shouldn't have been a warning but more of just getting us on the same page and figuring out how to communicate, and that I can basically consider the issue resolved.

I'm not going to let it go that easily, but, it's nice to hear that he's satisfied, I guess.

My step-brother's mom passed away yesterday from ovarian cancer. She was 69, the age my dad was when he died of cancer. Poor kids. They're older than me, her sons, my step-brothers, but they're still devastated, of course. Sandy was an awesome lady. I didn't know her very well, being my step-dad's ex-wife, but she was always kind and energetic and great to be around whenever I saw her at gatherings. She took me jogging once as a kid. It was the only time I spent time with just her. It's funny how silly little things turn out to mean the most.

can't. stop. crying. it's just too much, today, all of it.
