I went into the Hallmark store in the mall to get a get well card for a co-worker Thursday night. It smells exactly the same way it smelled when I was a kid. I started skating when my mom took me out of school, and I would linger in the mall after skating often, not having anything better to do. Home was empty and there was a little studying to do that I was never held to finished. The state declared me fully taught at a 12th grade level at age 11 so my mom had no reason to make me do homework after that if it was the slightest bit difficult for her, and I had little motivation without any school environment, so. Yeah. I hung out at the mall. I had no money so I guess this is where I honed my windowshopping skills. The Hallmark store was a favorite. There is a particular cinnamon scent it has had for 25 years. It's comforting. It's full of stuff made in China, but it's all so colorful and delightful and beautifully designed and just fun to look at. I saved up for a few small trinkets over the years, I think I bought a small pewter dragon there once, hoping my big brothers would eventually teach me how to play Dungeons and Dragons (they never did. I've still never played).

It's just freaky to me that such a store as that can stay exactly the same for so long. Will it still be like that when I die? And long after I'm gone? I think of buildings as things as being more long-lived than me, but not gift stores, heh.

Working from home. Excited to spend time with the cat, but his attraction to the track pad (I think because he loves my hands and wants them all to himself) is making data entry harder than it should be, heh. <3
