why is today so magical?
Oct. 13th, 2021 08:23 pmWondering what the special magic is, those times when I'm able to make better choices. Was standing in my totally trashed kitchen tonight (Josh is out of town so I sort of celebrated this morning by trashing the kitchen I guess), starving, heating hot water for chai, and craving popcorn something mad. I've had enough food today. But popcoooorrrrnnnn. I had totally planned to make some, as the water heated up.
But then, I looked around at the trashed kitchen and told myself, "okay sarah, if you do all the dishes, and put away all the cat food and snacks, then you can have popcorn." And then I saw the henna that I had set out, so I mixed that up while making my tea, and I already have henna on my hair now, not even on my to-do list, I just noticed some grey trying to peak through when I was getting ready for work this morning, and here I am, already dying it. It needs an hour to sit which is more than enough time to clean the kitchen. And now that i've had half a cup of tea, I don't even want popcorn anymore. What kind of magic was that? I also remembered to message Natasha about tomorrow, and re-charged my essential oil bracelet, and have fun tunes cranked for my kitchen tackling.
Why is it like this some nights, and other nights really not?
Maybe it had something to do with the bath I took last night. How lovely that was. My legs feel good despite the strenuous hike yesterday, maybe epsom salts really do deliver magnesium to muscles? I worked today and it went so well, I had such a terrible headache this morning but nurtured it with high quality food and ibuprofen (and a pumpkin spice almond milk latte from cafe 26, where I ran into JP, so nice to chat with him), and by the time I was sparkling the headache was gone.
Bought new Pumpkin Carving and Wicked Apple candles on my way to work because yummy candles bring me such silly joy. I got marshmellow pumpkin spice hand creme as a free gift!
Actually opened up my planner today, crafted a custom pen holder for it after not finding anything at target, decorated it, checked and crossed things off, felt really good, I think this might actually help me a little bit? I'm doing it, kind of?
Tyler's been responsive to messages for once. Maybe I can get him to come climb in the gym before my Finley date. 2 for 1 friend-boy day? a girl can dream. lol.
Some days just feel great.
one effect of only thrifting furniture or accepting free hand-me-down furniture is that the assortment for the apartment is quite odd. I've been using this rickity little nightstand I thrifted for a coffee table/laptop table for the couch, but it's too tiny to hold much, so when I put out Halloween decorations, I unfolded a TV tray and draped some Halloween fabric over it to hold my treat bowl, because treats are necessary during Halloween. This is pressed up against the wall next to the little rickity nightstand, which also has Halloween fabric draped over it and is currently holding my laptop (I slide this under the couch if we get company). The effect is this really cute cozy corner, and the cat for the first time decided that the little cat bed under the nightstand is the world's most bestest cat bed - he's never touched it before but now he snuggles into it all the time. A little black cat nestled under the Halloween tables is the cutest thing ever. And the whole setup makes the couch feel a lot more cozy, somehow, something about the two different levels of tables is really comforting, I love it.
Still need to go unfuck the kitchen. chai will help.
