a list of nice things to be grateful for

* the little girl at the farmers market who proudly showed me her feat of strength in tearing off carrot tops

* ube foam on top of an almond milk latte at Barista, the barista I requested it from handing it over saying, "Ooo, that looks decadent."

* the pale moon hanging over our dinner outside at the picnic table under the old oaks, leaves rustling in the almost-autumn breeze

* absolutely perfect weather all day long

* blackberries picked along our walk route this morning with Cynthia

* stores that stay open on labor day

* finding my wallet after i was so certain i'd lost it

* the faintest blush of pink on the edges of the white annabelle hydrandgea flowers

* giving mario money today (he's my favorite portland transient and i wish our system didn't fail sweet people who suffer from neurological disorders through no fault of their own - despite the pain of his schizophrenia he is never aggressive, always polite and tries to smile whenever he is able, even in times of desperation - he looks worse than he did a year ago and i worry that we will lose him entirely. i've seen it happen before.)

* lunar's happiness in being outside, rolling on the sidewalk and bunting and purring and exploring and trotting along

* the white flash of cottontail when the brush bunny bounds away from my cat

* when josh opens the door for me when he sees me pull up outside the apartment

* comfortable shoes

* sitting in the shade to read, even if only for ten or so minutes

* cinnamon

* bright yellow flowers

* a perfectly ripe avocado

* turning toward home
