aged 49 - how does this happen?

birthday weekend at the lookout tower was amazing. everyone stayed perpetually happy. my two favorite humans spoiled me so generously. we took mushroom gummies last night and giggled at clouds for hours while snuggled up in bed together, eventually passing out in giddy exhaustion. Tyler found us endless morels which I cooked for breakfast both mornings. Josh and I ran on the ridge trail and played on silks - his first time doing so outdoors. he toughed it out despite the frigid temps. the skies were glorious. drinking in sunlight and mountain views. we can see seven peaks of the Cascades from this lookout - Hood, Jefferson, 3 Fingered Jack, Mt Washington, and the Three Sisters, also we are right next to Black Butte - which I nicknamed Pied Butte as it is still splotchy with snow. Fika coffeehouse was the same amount delightful as always - the latte Friday was the best ever. Saturday was also great and Josh had a breakfast bagel and then we went to Paulina's books and he bought me the most silly and delightful book called Mink River about a fictional town on the Oregon north coast which is just after my own heart, being raised there (Newport, OR) from age 0-4. He also gifted me a replacement set of Bananagrams. Tyler and I moseyed lazily along the Metolius River for a while today before departure, looking for more mushrooms, along with seemingly half of the town lol - that's okay, we had more than our share up at the fire tower lookout. I fed them burritos and snacks and pie and cake, we did mini workouts together in the mornings, Tyler brought me a cute little Happy Birthday banner and gifted me the most beautiful birthday card.

Tyler rubbed my shoulders and stroked my face while I drove us home today, showing me such tenderness.

We've been doing this together for ten years, now, the three of us. i know marriages that haven't lasted that long.
