Just wanted to post photos I took the other day. sigh.
Right hand:

Left hand (not as severe but starting to show):

to be honest these swollen bits are not very painful. What hurts most are my thumbs and wrists. More on the right side. Which makes sense because I use them more but the left hand is the teacup hand and that hurts a lot too, so maybe about the same, I don't know.
They don't hurt much during silks yet, thankfully.
Also my right hip and left lower back and left shoulder. I've also had a sudden increase in headaches and neck pain. My foot is still constantly sore, some days are debilitatingly painful and others are mild.
I'm sure this is all related. My doctor just said "oh." No referral, no suggestions for treatment. I guess I should start calling around for a new doctor who is in my network who can see me and at least give me a referral, if they can't assess me themselves.
I need to get splints for my hands and start mitigation therapy right away. I have no idea how or where to start.
For now, I just suffer with no treatment, alone, with no care. Very typical of health care with this country.
Currently, Josh is on crutches and cannot walk, he cannot get an ultrasound scheduled because everywhere we go they say "we don't do that kind," including an office we went to, signed in at for his appt, and crutched all over the building to get to the imaging area, just to have the tech come out and announce that they don't have anyone who knows how to do an ultrasound for muscle tears. OHSU gave him hours of run-around just to hit an automated answer that they have no ultrasound services for muscle tears. This is our most prestigious hospital in the state. And they just... can't? (I have a suspicion that this is an AI generated automated answer to save money and isn't actually accurate. But how to get around it?) What is he supposed to do? The doctor suggested if he can't get an ultrasound, the next step is an MRI, but that is blocked because it requires "prior authorization from your insurance company," which of course won't provide authorization until he's first gotten an ultrasound, which is unavailable. ????????
He does have an appt in March (!) for an ultrasound at another hospital. IF they can even perform it.
So he's supposed to just limp around for two weeks on an untreated torn muscle, in the meantime?
Is this normal?
Is this where we are at?
We have insurance. We have money to spend. And we simply cannot find care.
This is hell. Honestly.
