I figured maybe she was associating your earlier visits with the injections, but now she sees you mostly when you're not doing injections. The injections are probably still unpleasant, but she's back in familiar and comfortable surroundings immediately.

You know, I tried really hard at my mom's to be there and spend time with her lots when I wasn't doing injections, and to give her cues to know whether I was or wasn't going to give her one (wrapping her in a towel and other prep rituals) so that she would feel safe with my visits on the off days, but I think that it was still just too easy for her to associate my visits with scary experiences. Not only is she less afraid of the injections now, but I'm really careful to not speak to her when preparing for it, and to wrap her up carefully in a towel and to take her away from the bedroom, so when we're just hanging out in my bedroom and I'm talking to her, she knows there's nothing to fear. And also just the volume of time she gets with me without injections I'm sure makes a big difference.

It's happyhappy for sure! *bounce*

Me too me too, thank you! It's so sweet how you've been so concerned and supportive. And now everything's working out beautifully. I'm sure the warm thoughts have helped. <3

Kitties are wonderfully grateful creatures, it's something that I find incredibly endearing. One of my sister's kitties was always rather cranky after getting fixed and would swat and attack at random. She would get really bad flea bites and have scabs around her neck and the back of her head. I took the time to give her my hand for a few weeks, let her get my scent without even trying to pet her. After a while she decided that I wasn't going to try to hurt her and would let me pet her, so I started itching those pesky bites for her.

Well that must've solidified my spot in her heart because before my sister moved down south, taking the girls with her, Rosie and I were nicely bonded and she would come sit in my lap and be happy. I miss her dearly. Cats make me far too happy because when they form bounds they are very deep. <3

Hehe sorry for rambling but the bonding of you and Ms. Willow just reminded me of the cuteness that is my favorite Rosie-Dozie. :3

You're right about their gratitude - sometimes they are so aloof, but they really do appreciate good care. I've seen cats get really, really cranky and bitchy when they had fleas and then totally calm down once they were gone. I had no idea how much they can irritate them.

You're so right about the bonds you can form with cats. Some people don't believe or understand me when I talk about it, but I felt just as strongly bonded to my first cat as I did to my childhood dog. She and I were great friends, and just loved each other's company. She smelled really good to me and she liked to roll around in my clothes so I guess I smelled good to her too, hehe. It's the same with Willow - we're really close friends. lol I can ramble on about kitties all day!
