Molly Elaine Rodway (née Fleetwood) 1942-2021

Molly was the only child of Charles William and Mary Isabelle Fleetwood, born in Des Moines, Iowa. She had fond childhood memories of summer farms in Indiana and winters in Fargo, North Dakota. Molly graduated from Lindenwood College with AB in Theatre, English, and Education, and took private piano instruction and played flute in high school band in Fargo. Molly married John Roscoe Jurgensen in 1963.They divorced amicably after 15 years and Molly remarried Rolland Gene Rodway in 1979, and moved to Portland, Oregon, where she ran an in-home day care service for many years, eventually transitioning to full-time piano teaching. Children and teaching gave Molly great joy and fulfillment. Cherished memories of her students gave her much comfort, later in life.

Molly joined several local churches over the years, including Central Lutheran, New Hope, St Michael’s and All Angels, Fremont Methodist, and more recently, Grace Presbyterian. Her many talents include singing, gardening, cooking and baking, hosting elaborate holiday celebrations, sewing, and arts and crafts.
m
Molly had a generous, caretaking spirit. She helped friends in need, paying them to do odd jobs or lending money whenever she could. She volunteered and found ways to help people and animals, such as arranging to trap and fix a local feral cat colony that she tended to for their remaining years in the neighborhood. Her rescue collie Hannah was trained as a therapy dog for nursing home and school reading visits. Molly loved all animals and wildlife, she knew the names of all the plants and trees and most of the birds in our area. Molly delighted in the beauty of nature, and found magic in all seasons.
Molly is survived by her two loving children, Shawn William Jurgensen and Sarah Faye Jurgensen.

A memorial celebration will be held at Wilshire Park, when we are able to gather.
