This day has been exceptionally beautiful. I couldn't sleep this morning, so got up early and bathed myself in the sunrise. Mauve-y purple-grey clouds over soft pastel pinks, oranges, and turquoise, with some vibrant pinky orange stripes and some dappled soft pink clouds across the top of the sky as it developed and turned more yellow and pale and the grey clouds darkened.

we had an overcast morning run (where the frostbite was acquired) with some gaps just enough to see the snow-topped mountains in the distance, on fairmont.

lazy mid-day with leftovers for lunch and an audiobook for entertainment/instruction. (some interesting tips on longevity tricks like acts of kindness and synchronous activities with loved ones and friends, such as dancing or whatever else you can do that mimics the other's movements).

cooked Josh some veggie tacos. walked the cat.

went to run some errands, was able to get an almond milk latte from the barista at cafe 26, even though it was late, he was nice.

caught the end of a gorgeous winter sunset.

found what i was looking for and then some, found out my gift card from santa was for a lot more than I had anticipated, was a lovely surprise.

came home under chilled, glittering stars with lots of goodies for the week.

when I got home and settled in, the owl started hooting in the spruce right outside my window. It's so loud! I've only heard it here once before, a couple months ago, in October, spooky season, when I was out walking the cat. I searched youtube and verified what Stephanie said about the call (she's a birder and really into owls), she said great horned, which we have in Laurelhurst. Josh and I are reveling in it, and we ran into another neighbor who also came out to listen. It sounds exactly like this:

I have a warm cozy car that gets me where I need.

I have a warm coat and fuzzy ear warmers and my hair is freshly washed and I have cozy legwarmers and gloves and a wool hat.

lots of masks to help keep me and other's safe when shopping.

grateful that some stores are open on the holiday.

grateful that i have shelter and don't have to be out in this bitter cold.

grateful that i can have hot cocoa and/or homemade eggnog if i want.

grateful for my sweet little cat. he hasn't thrown up once since we

grateful for all the adventures we got to have last year.

grateful that we can go cross country skiing together tomorrow.

so lucky that we got to spend last night with one of our very favorite couples, just the four of us.

grateful to not worry about an arbitrary change in numeric date, or feel additional pressure to change what i don't like about myself (already working on it, thx).

so much to look forward to.

feeling better, yes. holidays were hard. grateful they are over.

there will still be cookies and warm drinks, for a couple months to come. lots of snowy and cozy times ahead.

trying to be gentle with myself and not worry too much about anything run.

the owl visit was so magical. nice to see josh so enthralled.
