Yesterday morning before the trip I woke up sobbing heavy, heavy tears, and Lunar came over and curled up and stared at my face and just sat next to me, looking pensive, and when I opened my eyes, tears streaming, he actually leaned in, sniffed my eyes, and touched my tears with his paw.

And then curled up against my shoulder and kept checking in, sniffing at my face, another paw touch at my shoulder or arm here or there, until I back down, and he calmed, and settled in and slept against me.

Cats can be pretty magical.
