past valentines

Just thinking about my senior year of high school, how on Valentine's Day that year, I decided to show up in a bright red short stretch velvet dress, red lipstick and curled groomed hair. My outfit every single day had been oversized mens flannel (grunge - it was the early 90s after all) and torn jeans. The reaction from everyone was... dramatic. I reveled in it. I took myself on a movie date in that dress, alone, and had a fabulous time eating popcorn and crying happily at whatever dramatic scene in whatever movie I had chosen that I adored so much. I think I probably treated myself to a fancy dinner too, and flowers and chocolate. It was the best Valentine's Day ever. I do really well on my own. I think it just makes it better/easier to be in a relationship, knowing that I'm emotionally strong enough to be happy alone. To know that I am my own best Valentine date. <3

I'm totally indulging in food today, it's fine, I am having a cheat day, who cares. Needs moar chocolate mmmmmm
